Chief Risk Officer (CRO) BME Clearing

As the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of BME Clearing, you will be a key member of our BME Clearing executive leadership team, reporting directly to the Head of BME Risk Management and the BME Clearing Board, while also having a dotted line reporting to the CEO of BME Clearing. Your primary responsibility is to oversee the risk management function, ensuring the safe and efficient clearance in the 2nd line of defense role. You will lead the risk team of the Central Counterparty (CCP), supervising and enhancing the existing risk management framework in compliance with the EMIR Regulation, and according to the SIX Group risk policies, procedures and best practices in terms of risk management.
What You Will Do
- leading and managing the CCP risk team in coordination with the Group risk management team, creating comprehensive risk assessments of BME Clearing activities, performing specific risk analysis, identifying potential risk and mitigation strategies, and monitoring and reporting risk levels to various internal and external stakeholders
- ensuring that risks are appropriately addressed, managed and run with legality and conformity to established regulations, as well as fostering a continued improvement in risk awareness and culture within the Group, in accordance with risk standards evolution
- developing, calibrating, implementing and reviewing quantitative risk models, stress- and back-tests, scenario analysis to ensure BME Clearing resilience to adverse market conditions
- ensuring appropriate internal controls such as policies, procedures, key risk indicators and training to remain in compliance with laws and regulations
- close collaboration with the BME Clearing’s Operations, Compliance and Legal teams, as well as other SIX Clearing teams, amongst others
- participating in workshops and/or trainings organized either by the Group or by other Associations
- staying abreast of industry best practices and regulatory development
What You Bring
- minimum of five years’ experience in financial risk management and leadership; experience in a CCP will be considered positively
- mutual interest and strong knowledge of financial markets and financial products; a Master Degree or CFA, FRM certifications is desirable
- strong mathematical, statistical and analytical skills would be considered a plus
- strong presentation as well as communication and persuasive skills, verbal and written, both in English and Spanish; being able to tailor information to the appropriate level of recipient
- ability to work independently to a high standard in set timeframes
- good problem-solving, ownership, proactivity, conceptual and organizational skills
- being comfortable to work across locations, committed to travel every now and then
- being able to manage, support and empower employees
- self-motivated, ability to build relationships internally and externally; good social skills and team work would be desirable
- good and thoughtful communicator so that changes are communicated timely and tailored according to the recipients
