FinOps Engineer

We are looking for a FinOps Platform Engineer to join the Public Cloud team within the central IT Cloud and Development Platforms department of SIX. Alongside the Public Cloud team, you will work as a go-to person for public cloud-related laaS/PaaS demands, enabling internal customers to identify cloud use cases and supporting internal Azure and Google Cloud platforms that power international financial markets 24/7.

We are seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer with experience in cloud transformations, who can help to identify and implement use cases benefitting from cloud technologies while ensuring secure, compliant and cost-effective operations.
What You Will Do
- Deliver end-to-end cloud cost visibility and accountability: build granular consumption views for IT and business across providers (Azure required, GCP desirable), enable showback/chargeback, and resolve stakeholder cost inquiries.
- Optimize and control spend: analyze root causes of overruns, define and implement FinOps policies and best practices, and partner with cross-functional teams to execute cost-optimization levers while tracking avoided costs.
- Plan and forecast: produce cloud cost forecasts based on current and future workloads, and support pre-deployment cost estimates for new applications/environments.
- Report and govern: maintain continuous monitoring, reporting, and governance to ensure ongoing cost management and measurable savings across the cloud estate.
- Own FinOps execution with AI assistance. Support Dev teams on economical cloud patterns, govern and iterate the FinOps rule set, optimize commitment strategy, manage central reservations and savings plans, as well as continuously deliver actionable cost improvements.
What You Bring
- In-depth knowledge of public cloud platforms and their cost structures.
- Hands-on cost FinOps experience with Reservation, Saving Plans and cost optimization in Azure, FinOps.org certification is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills with a strong customer focus. Excellent written and verbal skills in English, German or Spanish is an advantage.
