Messaging Platform Engineer, Cloud & Containers

We are looking for a hands-on Messaging Platform Engineer to join our team in Zürich. A core responsibility of this role is the ongoing operation, maintenance and development of our business-critical on-premises IBM MQ Appliance environment. Alongside this established platform, our next step is to expand our messaging portfolio across OpenShift and Microsoft Azure. Beyond IBM MQ, we are also evaluating complementary cloud-native messaging technologies for the future hybrid messaging portfolio. This role combines platform engineering with software development. Your experience does not need to be limited to IBM MQ.
What You Will Do
- Operate and improve the IBM MQ Appliance platform
- Build automation, self-service capabilities and platform services
- Design and implement IBM MQ services in OpenShift and Azure
- Evaluate complementary messaging technologies
- Develop automation using APIs, CI/CD and infrastructure as code
- Troubleshoot production issues and participate in on-call rotation
What You Bring
- Enterprise messaging platform administration or engineering experience
- Production experience in OpenShift or public cloud environments
- Automation or software engineering skills in Java and Spring Boot
- Strong Linux, container, networking and security fundamentals
- Experience with CI/CD, observability and incident management
- Knowledge of Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform or cloud-native messaging
