Senior Software Engineer - Data

Do you want to build reliable, data-intensive systems that power financial index services? Our distributed Index team is based in Zurich and India, where data, engineering, and financial markets come together.
As a Senior Software Engineer focused on data, you will develop Python-based pipelines and services and take end-to-end ownership of market, reference, configuration, and index data. Working with engineering, product, architecture, QA, and SRE teams, you will ensure accurate, traceable, and resilient processing from ingestion to distribution.
What You Will Do
- Design, build, and operate Python-based data pipelines and services for market, reference, and index data across batch and real-time processing.
- Own the data lifecycle from ingestion and validation to transformation, orchestration, reconciliation, replay, and recovery.
- Deliver modular, testable, maintainable, and observable solutions with automated testing and reliable deployment pipelines.
- Build scalable and resilient distributed systems that handle large volumes, late or duplicate data, performance, and operational support.
- Collaborate with product, domain, architecture, QA, and SRE teams to improve data platforms, engineering standards, and modern development practices.
What You Bring
- Strong hands-on Python experience developing, testing, deploying, and operating production-grade data pipelines and services; Java is an advantage.
- Solid knowledge of data engineering, including extract-transform-load patterns, data modelling, transformation, lineage, data quality, orchestration, and batch and real-time processing.
- Experience with distributed, data-intensive systems, including scalability, resilience, performance, observability, idempotency, reconciliation, and recovery.
- Strong software engineering practices, including modular design, automated testing, version control, continuous integration, and technical documentation.
- Experience with Apache Airflow or Metaflow and financial-market, time-series, or index data is an advantage; relevant degree or equivalent experience, fluent English, and German as a plus.
